Calling yourself the best hotel in Shkodër is easy. Proving it is harder, so this page makes the case the honest way: with the numbers, the facts and the words of guests who have actually slept here. NÓS Albania is a small boutique property with seven units in the very centre of the city. We are not the biggest name in town. We simply believe that for most travellers we are the smartest choice, and here is why.
The Short Answer

What "Best Hotel in Shkodër" Should Actually Mean
Shkodra is not a resort town. People come here to walk the old streets, climb Rozafa Castle, cycle to the lake and launch day trips into the Albanian Alps. For that kind of trip, the best hotel is not the one with the biggest lobby. It is the one with the most central quiet address, a spotless room to come back to, hosts who solve problems before you notice them, and honest prices. Those are the four tests we hold ourselves to, and the four tests we suggest you apply to anywhere you consider booking. Our guide to where to stay in Shkodër explains the neighbourhoods in detail if you want the full picture first.
A City Centre Address That Stays Quiet
NÓS Albania sits on Bulevardi Skënderbeu, the main boulevard of the city. The pedestrian zone, the cafés, the restaurants and the evening xhiro are two minutes from the front door, yet the building itself sits back from the noise. One guest, Filipe, put it better than we could: "In the heart of the city. Two minutes walk to the main street, but at the same time, in a quiet place."
From the door you can walk to the Marubi Museum, the cathedral and the old bazaar streets. Rozafa Castle is a ten minute taxi or a flat riverside walk away. Lake Shkodra is a fifteen minute cycle. If you arrive by bus from Tirana or the airport, the stop is a short walk from the property: our transport guide covers every route.
A typical first evening here writes itself. Drop the bags, take the two minute walk to the pedestrian zone, join the xhiro with the locals, pick a restaurant, and finish with a coffee at the small café with a garden right in front of our entrance. More than one review mentions that café by name, and it is exactly the kind of detail that makes a stay feel local rather than touristic.
Rooms That Guests Keep Calling Spotless
We run five boutique rooms and two serviced apartments, each with free Wi-Fi, air conditioning, a private bathroom and daily housekeeping:
- Double rooms from €50 a night, sleeping two
- Garden view doubles at €54
- Superior studio at €63 for travellers who want more space
- Family room at €90, sleeping four
- Serviced apartments at €70 and €80, sleeping four, ideal for longer stays
The word that keeps appearing in reviews is "spotless". Endri, reviewing us midway through a trip across Albania, wrote: "You can't go wrong with this hotel. Location was great for walking around. The rooms were spotless everyday." Another guest summed up their stay simply: "Everything was perfect! The room was modern, spacious, clean and super comfortable." The same review praised the thoughtful touches, like the small guest kits waiting in the room: details a seven unit property can sweat over in a way a hundred room hotel simply cannot.
Hospitality with a 5.0 Google Score
A perfect 5.0 from 124 Google reviews is rare in any city, and it does not come from the building. It comes from how guests are treated. Kristina arrived at ten in the evening without a booking; a neighbour phoned the owner, and within ten minutes he was there in person to open a room. Another guest wrote that when the taxis were busy, the owner simply drove them to Rozafa Castle himself, free of charge. We could list more, but you should not take our word for any of this: read every review on Google and judge for yourself.
Recognised Beyond Our Own Pages
Independent platforms have reached the same conclusion. Booking.com currently features NÓS on its list of the best luxury hotels in Shkodër, and you will also find us on Tripadvisor as Nos Luxury Rooms. We would still rather you book with us directly, and the next section explains why.

Your Base Camp for the Albanian Alps
Most guests use Shkodra as the gateway to the mountains, and this is where a small hotel with a real tour desk earns its keep. We arrange guided day trips to Theth, Valbona and the Lake Koman ferry with comfortable transfers and pick up at our door, plus honest advice about which day the weather favours. Theth sits about 85 km from the city, the Koman ferry is one of the most scenic boat rides in Europe, and the classic loop combines the two over a long unforgettable day. Coordinating ferry times, transfers and trailheads on your own is possible but fiddly; our guests hand us the logistics and keep their energy for the mountains. Read our Albanian Alps guide to see what is possible, then enjoy the city in the evenings between adventures.
An Honest Note on Who We Suit
We promised honesty, so here it is. NÓS Albania has seven units, which means July and August dates genuinely sell out: if you are coming in high season, book early. We are a boutique city property, not a resort, so there is no pool or spa. If your trip is built around a beach holiday, the coast will serve you better and we will happily point you there. But if you want Shkodra itself, the castle, the lake, the Alps and the café life, with a quiet room in the exact centre of it all, that is precisely what we built.
